The town draws scores of shoppers to the Silverthorne Factory Stores, whitewater rafters and fishermen to its slice of the Blue River, and rodeo lovers from far and wide to its annual Mountain Community Fair. The Silverthorne Recreation Center is a popular family attraction, offering swimming and lap pools, a water slide, running track, cardiovascular and free weight areas, indoor and outdoor hot tubs and much more. Silverthorne also offers sledding hills and a skateboard park for those who dare to ride.
"It will be a time of joy and reflection," Frisco resident Don Sather said in an e-mail. "People are encouraged to bring old photos of Jay and spend the afternoon."
Bauer, a well-respected attorney and emcee died the night of March 1 after battling for years with melanoma.
A jazz band including one of Bauer's friends is to perform at the event later this month, and Breckenridge resident Rick Bly is to emcee.
There will also be open mic time for people who wish to speak.
